Easy trail at the base of the volcano with good views of the volcano and lava flows.

Get started on the hike from the parking lot. The first quarter mile is paved and very easy to walk. The rest of the trail takes you to the base of the volcano through lava flows and tubes. This is an incredible landscape to take in along your hike.

Hike the Lava Flow Trail at Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument Reviews

This trail was awesome to me as I haven't yet been to many volcanoes in the PNW. The jagged blackened rock was like walking on another planet.

The views are unique on this hike - you can definitely tell that you're scaling the side of a volcano. The lava flows are super cool - recommend if you're looking for a varied landscape!
