Isla Tortuga Adventure Reviews
A little expensive, but a short catamaran ride from Montezuma. We saw dolphins and whales along the way, and went snorkeling. Watch where you sit your food and drinks on the beach, the wild pigs love to steal.

Relax in Punta Leona, Costa Rica
Punta Leona is a peninsula located south west of San Jose and Alajuela. Head west towards Punta Arenas, then south on interstate 34. Entering "Parqueo Punta Leona" in your GPS will take you to the right location. This parking area will take you to Playa Mantas, This is a dark sand beach with many actives to do. There is a resort on the beach along with boat and kayak rentals and even an inflata...
Photograph Crocodiles under the Tarcoles River Crocodile Bridge
The Tarcolos River is probably the most polluted river in Costa Rica and ironically also one of the biggest tourist attractions.
Despite the nearby national park and renewed focus on the environment it's 67% sewage and industrial waste. But with around 25 crocodiles per square kilometer you wouldn't be swimming here anyway!
There are hundreds of different cruise tours to see the huge crocodile...
Catch Waves and a Sunset at Playa Jacó
There are hotels nearby, but if you are staying in San Jose this is a great day trip since it is only a couple of hours away by bus. Jaco is a big, wide open beach with room for everyone. Even on packed days, it doesn't feel very crowded. It's a pretty famous surf spot in Costa Rica, but even with its popularity, you will still be likely to get your fair share of waves. There are palm trees for ...
Relax at Playa Corozalito
I have been to many beaches in Costa Rica. I have never experienced a beach as beautiful (yet) as this one. The approach to the water is a gradual, barely noticeable ease into the ocean. From my first time here and all the subsequent visits, the beach and ocean floor were completely void of rocks and coral. The sand in the water is silky smooth. This is a perfect beach for a beginner surfer if ...
El Arbol Hueco (Ficus Tree)
El Arbol Hueco (Ficus Tree) is the coolest tree i have ever seen a climbed up.
Off the road, go up the small 5 ft hill. Follow the fence till you find the opening and trail. Walk down the trail about 5 min and you'll see the tree. It's also on google maps
Climb into the Terciopelo Cave
Riddled with stygian chambers much like the holes in Swiss cheese, Barra Honda is unique among Costa Rica's network of national parks. According to its website, the National Park's crowning glory is its 42 known caverns, less than half of which have been explored by humans. Terciopelo, named after Costa Rica's deadly fer-de-lance snake, can only be reached by way of a single aluminum ladder, wh...
