Relax at Playa Tamarindo

There are a ton of shuttles, taxis, etc. from the airport in San Jose or if you book through a hotel, they will pick you up. Driving to Tamarindo isn't too difficult, especially if you speak a bit of Spanish...luckily the pin on the map will give you directions too :) 

There is so much to do in Tamarindo. If you are an adolescent or young adult I recommend staying at Selina Hostel. Selina has multiple locations so if you are booking your trip and looking for a safe hostel to stay, this is the place! Selina has daily activities planned for their guests such as sunset yoga on the beach, surf lessons, pool parties, and more. This takes away any hesitation of what to do in an unfamiliar town and allows you to make connections with fellow travelers and locals. 

The beach, Playa Tamarindo, is only a minute walk from your room and the perfect way to spend your time during the hot afternoons. Locals walk up and down the beach selling pipas (young coconuts), which is a perfect way to stay refreshed in the hot sun. They slice open the pipa right there in front of you and hand it over for you to enjoy the ice cold pipa water! Tamarindo has multiple beaches that are just a quick ATV ride away, where you can find big waves to surf or calm coves to swim and float. 

Must do adventure while at Playa Tamarindo, is to rent a stand up paddle board from Selina or anywhere on the beach. It only costs about $10 for the day. You can paddle out to an island visible from the shore that is off to the left. The island is small but full of amazing shells and surrounded by sea creatures. This is also a great place to snorkel.
