A cool trail in the summer, but an awesome experience in the winter. A good mix of trail and rustic trekking right outside of the Fox Valley.

Inside of High Cliff State Park, Lime Kiln Trail is a unique spot right off the shores of Lake Winnebago. The trail extends 1.7 miles, but has a early cutoff to shorten the hike if desired. In the winter, the trail is not marked well, but hikers can follow the tracks to continue on the loop.

The trail also runs next to the old kiln lines of the Western Lime and Cement Company that operated for over 100 years into the 1950s.  All that remains is three kiln and some old stone buildings parallel to the trail.

Pro-Tip: If you're looking to extend this into an overnight trip, the trail borders next to campsite #38 within the Family Campground. But prepare for the old Wisconsin winter nights!

Snowshoe the Lime Kiln Trail at High Cliff Reviews

This is a great little spot and quick to get to from all points around Lake Winnebago. Winter is nice, as there are less people out and the view is nice of the lake and surrounding areas.
