Description

A secret spot next to the Observatory Tower, the old limestone bluffs at High Cliff offer something off the beaten path that isn't on the trail map.
High Cliff State Park has some great hiking and cool spots throughout the park, but something that isn't on the map is located right next to the Observatory Tower atop of the bluffs. From the main parking lot area, left of the observatory tower, there is an old stone entrance behind a wooden fence. Climbing around the fence, explorers can walk down the stone steps and loop around the bluffs below. The bluffs are often used for bouldering and climbing, depending on the season. While you're there, the observatory tower has some great views as well!
High Cliff is an extremely family friendly park. While there, make sure to check out the Lime Kiln Trail and see the old limestone quarry and kiln ruins from the late 1800's. (See Snowshoe the Lime Kiln Trail at High Cliff)
When you're done exploring for the day, make sure to stop by the Chubby Seagull for drinks or ice cream.
