Spend a day relaxing and swimming at one of the largest, most popular beaches in West Michigan!

Holland State Park has a variety of activities available, the most prominent of course being swimming and relaxing on the beach. You can lay out towels and sunbathe, throw a frisbee or football in the large sand area away from the water, or play sand volleyball on one of the many courts. There is also a basketball court and a few good trees to set up hammocks. When the conditions are right I've seen people out boating, jet skiing, and kiteboarding! Depending on the tide and weather conditions, there might be large waves or no waves at all.

There is a public-accessible pier that extends out into Lake Michigan about 750 feet. Many people fish off of it, with the most popular spots at the very end of the pier or on the channel side.

There is a camping area at the beach, and another just up the road. Both do tend to get fully booked around holidays so plan ahead! For a day trip you can barbecue on the beach at any of the park grills or you can get food at the souvenir and concessions building. That building also has public restrooms, changing areas, and showers.

One of the things I love most about this beach is the photography opportunities. The lighthouse, Big Red, is in very good condition and makes for an excellent subject. The sunsets here are also legendary! My personal favorite is to drive over just before or after a big storm and get pictures of the waves crashing into the pier with ominous clouds overhead.

Swim at Holland State Park Reviews

I love to come to this beach in the summertime! It has a family-friendly and fun atmosphere. Its a great place to just lounge for the day, go for a swim (the water can be quite cold but refreshing!) and the pier is great for a quick walk. There are really nice public restrooms and a snack and gift shop. Even when it's not the summer season, it's a lovely beach to visit all year long.
