It's a great hike through the priairie and the flint hills of Kansas. The hike is about 6 miles long and has some decent elevation (for Kansas) at certain points. I've done the full trail twice (once in the late fall and once in late winter). I'd love to go back when the wildflowers are in bloom.

Great view of the skyline and cool place to see the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers.

I'd seen thousands of pictures of Horseshoe Bend, but when I actually got there it was breathtaking. Pictures cannot do it justice.

Easily accessible (we were able to drive to it with a Hyundai Elantra). The hike itself was very easy for all fitness levels, was not crowded, and had beautiful scenery!

This was the first hike to a summit for me and it was great! It was without a doubt the hardest thing I've ever done. I live in the mid-west where there is no elevation, so I wasn't prepared for the toll the elevation would take on me, but with some slow steady steps, I was able to summit with my wife in 7 hours.
