Great lake to get away from the more populated spots. It was super quiet and very peaceful. The hike is quite tough though. It's pretty steep.

Easy, well maintained trail. It is quite popular, but being so long it didn't feel overly crowded. Lots of access to various beaches throughout the hike, and stunning views of the lake. I started my hike at DL Bliss. As stated in the description, most people turn around at Vikingsholm castle. If you're able though, I recommend continuing on for the rest of the Rubicon trail and hike all the way to Eagle Point. It'll add 3.2 miles to your round trip, making it about 12.2 miles (excluding the other optional stops like the lower eagle falls and lighthouse which are about 0.4 miles round trip extra each) but the panoramic view was well worth it in my opinion. The hike past the castle is the most difficult part, but in my opinion rewarded you with some of the best views of the whole trail.

Really a hike for beginners. It's incredibly short and easy, which leads to it being quite crowded because everyone can do it. If you're looking for a challenge or solitude, this is not the hike for you.

Opted to hike all the way to the resort (~3.5 miles), rented a kayak for the day and spent the whole day out on the lake. You can also pay like $3 each way for them to ferry you across the lake and save yourself 2.5 miles of hiking if you prefer. If capable I'd suggest at least hiking the whole way in. You get to walk across the dam that way. I totally plan on doing it again, and maybe even camping on one of their campgrounds next time.
