The W&OD Trail has a paved trail and in some places a gravel horse trail. I enjoy running & biking the W&OD in all seasons.

Fire Canyon Overlook is beautiful! Check out Silica Dome!

Old Rag Trail requires a permit from Recreation.gov beginning March 2022. The trail from the new parking lot ascends quickly. The rock scrambles begin at the sign, "No camping beyond this point". I prefer to hike it out-and-back because the loop includes a long fire road.

Great hike! A little challenging, which makes it fun! Wear shoes with a grip. The sand makes some of the rocks a little slippery. Due to its popularity, it's a bit crowded though.

This trail is not well marked or maintained. I had a hard time finding it from the White Domes slot canyon. It follows a wash for as far as I went before I turned around. If you like solitude, this is a great hike for you.

This is a beautiful spot for photographs! I prefer the afternoon sun which highlights the best features.

When I reached the "End of the Trail" sign, I looked to my left and saw an easy climb to a higher vantage point. At the top, there's evidence of a former railing or posts. If you hike around a down, there are plenty of footprints in the sand indicating many others have hiked the unmarked trail past the "End of Trail" sign. Explore a little further!

The name, "Rainbow Vista Trail" was a bit confusing to me. I looked everywhere for a rainbow arched rock or rainbow colors. This should really be called the Fire Canyon Overlook Trail. The view from the trail end is amazing. We saw long-horned sheep looking down at us from high perches. The sand is deep at times and hard to walk through, but worth the effort.

This was my first backpacking trip and I did it solo. What a life changing experience, full of emotions, gorgeous views, waterfalls, stream crossings, sounds of waves, birds, boats, and helicopters. I started at 5 am each day with the sweet sound of song birds, and arrived by 12:30 pm. I was glad to have lightweight hiking poles, and I didn't need a sleeping bag or pad. I showered and filtered water from the waterfall near the beach, and pitched my tent in the sand. I enjoyed the boat tour on the third day for a new perspective of the beautiful Na Pali Coast.

Check out the 3 large trees growing from a fallen tree on the Indian Run Shelter Fire Road. Located just off the Appalachian Trail on the left. Nature is amazing!
