Explore Wisconsin Point
South Range, Wisconsin
Description
Added by Allison Herreid
Explore the this sandy beach on the shore of Lake Superior. This spot is great for swimming, bird watching, and getting a photo or two of the lighthouse!
If you’re in the Twin Ports area, (Duluth, MN and Superior, WI) be sure to check out Wisconsin Point. This peninsula is about 3 miles long and has several great spots to relax on the sandy beach (or swim in the chilly waters of Lake Superior). At the end of the peninsula is the Wisconsin Point Lighthouse which you have to climb on the breakwater to get to. Wonderful views of Duluth can be seen from here and it is fun to watch the freighters come in from a different perspective.
Wisconsin Point is also home to a Native American burial ground and is popular for birding during migrations in the fall and spring. A great place to relax and enjoy Lake Superior!
