Kayaking and Fishing the Beaver Creek Reservoir

Beautiful quiet lake brimming with catfish, sunfish, and bass.
Beaver Creek Reservoir, also known locally as Martinsville Reservoir, is a beautiful lake to enjoy in any season. The lake is stocked with catfish several times per year. BCR also has a variety of pan fish including; Bluegill, Crappie, Sun Perch, and Rock Bass. There are also both Small Mouth Bass and Large Mouth Bass to be caught. My family has enjoyed kayaking here several times this year, the water is flat, no gas powered boats are allowed on the 175 acre lake. You can also paddle board, canoe, or bank fish. The BCR offers both canoe and kayak rentals on site. Wildlife on the lake include Great Blue Herring, Canadian Geese, Wood Ducks, Brown Eagles, White Tail Deer, and the rare but occasional Black Bear just to name a few. There are a few short trails along the shore line for you to enjoy. Creel limits are posted on the sign at the loading dock, and a Virginia Freshwater Fishing License is required.
