Hike through the desert to a beautiful slot canyon in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.
Zebra slot canyon is located in the heart of Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. The trail takes you through sandy washes to one of the areas most popular slot canyons to photograph and explore.
The hike starts from the parking lot along Hole-In-The-Rock road. Hole-In-The-Rock is an unpaved road that can become impassible when wet. The trail starts across the street from the parking area and makes its way down through a sandy wash. The hike is exposed with little to no shade so be sure to bring plenty of water, especially if hiking during the hot summer months.
Zebra slot canyon is a short and very narrow slot canyon known for its zebra like stripes in the sandstone walls. To enter the canyon be prepared to wade through cold murky water. The water can be waist deep or deeper depending on the time of the year. Remember to always check the weather before entering a slot canyon. Floods can occur with little to no warning.

Zebra Slot Canyon Reviews
Just do it! It gets very hot, no shade, so bring lots of water but the slot canyon is breathtaking! Got a little lost but thankful found other hikers to get us back on track.

The slot canyon and surrounding landscape is beautiful but the hike in was hot! There was very little shade along the trail which is also really sandy. The hike is only six miles but the sand really takes it out of you.
