Description

Added by Jared Beeler

Beautiful 360 degree view of the Tennessee Valley and this spot is great for sunset and sunrise.

The maynardville fire tower is one that anyone can go too since you can drive straight to the base of it. From the base however there are about 100 steep stairs to the top. On the way up you will need to be extra careful because it is very old and was never built for safety. When you get to the top there are a few good platforms to stand on. The top of the fire tower or the cab is however locked and can not be accessed.

This fire tower is owned by the Department of Forestry so it is completely legal to go to from sunrise to sunset. Please be courteous to the neighbors and other visitors to the tower and do not play any loud music.

The location of this tower is pretty rural therefore there may be animals in the road so watch out and be careful.

Photograph the Maynardville Fire Tower Reviews

The views from this area are beautiful! The bottom set of stairs have been removed on the tower, so someone get up there if you are willing to climb. If not, continue east down Fox Hunter road and you’ll come to an open field that has great views with out having to climb.

I was very excited driving up to the fire tower . I recommend this only to those not afraid of heights and are stealthily . It is not built for safety and many steps were rotted . You had to be careful with foot work on the way up and down . Make sure to pack a backpack and keep your hands free so you can hold the handles . Other than that it had gorgeous views !!
