This is a beautiful hike that rewards you at the end with a plunge in the bathtub, water levels permitting!

Before you start this adventure, make sure you're wearing shoes that will not be ruined by crossing creeks. There are several stream crossings so wear waterproof boots or sturdy hiking sandals (I prefer my Original Universal Tevas or my KEEN Whisper Sandal).

The pull off to start the hike is about 10-15 minutes from the Spearfish Canyon stoplight, in between Bridal Veil Falls and the pull off for the Eleventh Hour Gulch hike. When driving through the canyon be aware of bikers on the sides of the road as well as the many tourists that frequent this area during the summer months.

You'll pull off at Cleopatra Place to start the hike. The beginning of the hike and the parking area are private property so be respectful of this.  As always, pack out what you pack in.

After parking, cross the bridge and keep to the trail on the right. The trail itself is pretty easy to follow. There are quite a few stream crossings, depending on the water levels and speed these can be easy or difficult but most have a makeshift rock or log bridge you can use to help cross.

Once you reach the bathtub you can take a trip down down the natural slide or just stick your toes in. Bring a lunch and picnic to enjoy the beautiful scenery around the tub!

Hike to Devil's Bathtub, Black Hills National Forest Reviews

Challenging but did it with my 10 month old strapped to my front! There was about 12 crossings on our way in. Water is cold but we still went in.
