Muir Beach Overlook
Muir Beach, California
Description
Added by Scott Kranz
Take in panoramic views of the Marin coastline and if you're lucky, get to see migrating gray whales in the fall/winter. Keep in mind, this is a pretty good (romantic) spot to take in a sunset.
The Muir Beach Overlook is one of the most convenient spots to take in an amazing view of the entire coastline, and one of the best places to catch a dramatic sunset. It’s conveniently located one mile north of Muir Beach and parking is easy. It’s a 5 minute walk down the trail to the Overlook. On a clear day, you can see San Francisco’s Sutro Tower, Mount Tam, and out to the Farallon Islands.
Be sure to pack a jacket and dress in layers if you plan to catch the sunset– it can get breezy and cold in the evenings. There are also two vault toilets located in the parking area.

Muir Beach Overlook Reviews
There are picnic tables just outside of the overlook so you can bring a lunch before or after taking in the view.
Beautiful. Try to go on a clear day and you can see so far. Bring binoculars to look for whales.
