Enjoy Coastal Views at the Muir Beach Overlook
Details
Added by Scott Kranz
Take in panoramic views of the Marin coastline and if you're lucky, get to see migrating gray whales in the fall/winter. Keep in mind, this is a pretty good (romantic) spot to take in a sunset.
The Muir Beach Overlook is one of the most convenient spots to take in an amazing view of the entire coastline, and one of the best places to catch a dramatic sunset. It’s conveniently located one mile north of Muir Beach and parking is easy. It’s a 5 minute walk down the trail to the Overlook. On a clear day, you can see San Francisco’s Sutro Tower, Mount Tam, and out to the Farallon Islands.
Be sure to pack a jacket and dress in layers if you plan to catch the sunset– it can get breezy and cold in the evenings. There are also two vault toilets located in the parking area.

If there isn't any fog, this is a great vista to catch a sunset. The walkway pictured is great for a foreground in photos too

Hidden Gem
Gorgeous view and a true hidden gem. Stumbled upon it accidentally. Wasn't crowded at all when I got there but I might have gotten lucky.

Gorgeous Ocean Views!
On a nice day you'll be able to see SF to the south! Make sure to stop by Muir Beach on your way out, especially on a nice day for some beach fun (can get crowded though)!

Unbelievable view! You have to see it, to believe, this is in our backyard.
