Description

Added by The Outbound Collective

This Southern California gem is a hub for beach-goers, campers, swimmers, surfers, divers, fishers, and picknickers.

South Carlsbad Campground is a picturesque experience. Imagine gorgeous sea cliffs overlooking a lovely beach, with ample activities to pursue (or just lay in the sun and enjoy some quiet time). The most popular campsites, 1-70 and 156-222, are perched on the edge of a bluff and feature the best views.

Pets are allowed. The sites offer fire rings, picnic tables, and campfire rings. A small, conveniently located camp store allows for the purchasing of groceries, firewood, and ice. Check in time is a strict 2pm each day. You can reserve a campsite here.

South Carlsbad Campground Reviews

Great spot to camp with the family!

I've lived across the street from South Carlsbad State Beach Campground since 2003. The only people who have access to the beach are those who are camping, and those of us who live close enough to walk to there. The the only public parking is located at the north and south ends of the park. There are about six surf breaks from Ponto's on the South end to Road Dips at the North End. During peak season, spring through fall you need to reserve your spot months in advance or wait in line at the gate at 7 AM to see if there is a cancelation.
