This was shorter than expected but with decent elevation gain for a 45 minute hike. Grab a brew at hood river afterward!

Hiked up here while the sun was setting and the views of the gorge were astonishing. The trail itself was challenging enough for a good after work hike, but I didn't bring enough water. Overall a great afternoon getaway.

Great fun for a quick trip if you want to knock out a few of the shorter adventures Big Bend offers. We went during a rainy season (in Texas, believe it or not). However, the mud on the banks of the Rio Grande made enjoying the river/canyon difficult if you were knee deep in thick and sticky mud. The views and the sheer size of the canyon made ever lost shoe worth it.

The Lighthouse trail is a great day trip if you live in the surrounding area (lubbock, Canyon, Amarillo). It's a fun and moderate hike where you can expect to climb up some sandy boulders for the best views. It's fun if it's not too hot, I would avoid trying this hike in the middle of the summer heat, other seasons, its absolutely beautiful.
