Distance: 1.7 miles out-and-back. Elevation Gain: 480 feet. Great views from the top. Dog-friendly hike.
Get stunning views overlooking Bend. This 1.7 mile roundtrip hike is in the middle of town and is easily accessible as a quick before or after work adventure. If you head up there later in the day, you'll be rewarded with sunset views over the Cascade Mountains.
This trail offers easy parking at the base. In terms of the hike, there are two options: one allows you to hike up a paved trail, which is also car-friendly for those who aren't looking to hike it. The second, is a dirt trail which is a little more pedestrian friendly.

Great short hike
We had less than an hour before a client dinner and were able to hike up and down quickly in 35 minutes. Good hike, not too strenuous.

Hike in the middle of town. Can drive or hike up. Not really worth the time in my opinion! I'd rather get farther away from the city.
Good Warm up!
When I arrived in Bend from Pennsylvania, I went to Pilot Butte the first evening for sunset. Great first spot to check out, great panoramic view of the town and the mountains in the distance. It get's you pumped for exploring the surrounding areas!
