Hike the Quail Hill Loop

1.8 Miles Round Trip - Loop Trail

Quail Hill Trailhead - Search Nearby - Added by Julie & Brian

This easy hike through one of Orange County's nature preserves is the perfect place for a sunset walk.

The Quail Hill loop is a short and easily accessible hike in the Irvine Open Space Preserve. This makes it a great place to escape for a quick sunset hike after work, or at the end of a busy weekend.

The trailhead is located directly across the street from the Quail Hill Community Park off of Shady Canyon Drive. There is a parking lot for the trailhead on the right side of the street as you approach from the 405 freeway. Parking is free, and there are bathrooms located next to the lot as well. The trailhead is easily visible from the parking lot.

We recommend taking the left fork of the loop first, which takes you up a small hill before curving down and around the front side of the preserve. However, either route still makes for a great walk!

For more information about the Irvine Open Space Preserve, including a map and a podcast about the preserve that you can listen to as you walk the loop, visit the Irvine Ranch website here.

Overall rating:

Easy hike with a view

This is a pretty easy hike. I run this trail whenever I can. There is a lookout point where you can see a part of the city. It really is not a bad hike for beginners or kids and it is pretty short I think a ~2 miles loop
