Crab Eyes is one of the most iconic features in the Wichitas and Oklahoma. It's a great 4 mile roundtrip hike. The Crab Eyes have classic crack climbs and a fun scramble to the top.

Starting from the Sunset Trailhead/Parking Lot on far west side of the refuge, hike west out of the parking lot a few hundred feet to the trailhead that heads into a well-developed trail through the trees. This is different than the Elk Mountain trail which heads south from the parking lot. Hike through the trees for a half mile before reaching a creek bed which is almost always dry. Continue west across the creek onto a narrower trail. Continue on this trail for another half a mile. It will cut west/southwest to marked sign. Head west towards the backcountry camping arrow. You will cross a small plateau where you can see your destination in the distance. Then, the trail drops back down to parallel another stream. After another half mile the trail will turn south towards the crabeyes. The trail can be hard to follow (it's there I promise), but make your way with a couple hundred feet elevation gain to the base of crabeyes. If you want, theres a class 3 scramble to the top of the eyes from the south side of the formation.
