Mt. Katahdin via Abol Slide Trail
Millinocket, Maine
7.65 mi
/ 3914 ft gain
The trailhead starts from the Abol Campground inside of Baxter State Park. I would highly recommend staying the night before so that you can get an early start on the hike as it can be an all-day affair.
For the first 1.4 miles, you meander along a stream bed through a densely wooded forest, the trail is very well marked with blazes. You will encounter a labeled scenic viewpoint area that's ...
Camp at Ricketts Glen
Sweet Valley, PennsylvaniaSome would argue that the trails hidden inside this state park are some of the most scenic in all of Pennsylvania, while I haven't explored a ton of the state I sure see where the fans of this park are coming from. The campground is very large and reservations would be highly recommended if you are visiting during the summer months or want one of the more secluded lakeside sites. You can make r...
Camp at Mt. Pisgah
Canton, North Carolina
5.0
The Mt. Pisgah campground is nestled right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Canton, NC. Since it is at an elevation of 4,980 feet the campground is a perfect destination to beat the heat and humidity that the region can be known for in the summer months. Reservations and information can be found on their website, they do have 74 first-come first-served sites so reservations aren't really ne...
Camp on Jekyll Island

Arriving on the island you will notice it is quite developed around the entrance but don't be discouraged by this view as the campground is about 8 miles away from the bridge.

Camp at Lake Dunmore
Salisbury, VermontThe campground office for Branbury state park is on the opposite side of Route 53 from the pin on the map here, but the best campsites are where the pin is. Start by going and talking to the rangers at the office, they are super friendly and very helpful for recommendations of hikes or things to do nearby. You can always make a reservation ahead of time here although I feel its only necessary...
