An incredible spot to enjoy views of St. Mary Lake and it's surrounding peaks.
With panoramic views of St. Mary Lake and it’s surrounding peaks, Sun Point is the perfect spot to chill/relax in Glacier National Park. It can be reached via the Sun Point Nature Trail or the Sun Point picnic area.
To reach Sun Point via the nature trail, start at Sunrift Gorge parking area. Climb down the stairs on the south side of the road until you see the trailhead sign. Continue to descend until the junction. Turn left at the junction. Sun point will be 0.8 miles from the trailhead. Parking is limited at Sunrift Gorge so consider starting early or utilizing the Park’s shuttle system.
Sun Point is also just a short hike from the picnic area. Simply park in the parking lot and follow the trail until you reach Sun Point
*Notice: as of summer 2016. the picnic area parking lot is currently under construction and only accessible via the nature trail. Check with park officials for re-opening.
