Camp at Miguel's Pizza
Slade, Kentucky
Description
Added by Shalee Blackmer
Miguel's Pizza offers cheap and unique camping with some of the best rock climbing in the Eastern U.S. In your downtime, enjoy good food, a basketball court, and other fun games.
The Red River Gorge is known for the best rock climbing in the east. A man named Miguel opened a pizzeria in the gorge, and soon began letting climbers camp behind the restaurant for a mere $2/night. Today, the tradition has continued, and dozens of climbers call Miguel's Pizza their climbing home.
Campers have the choice between sleeping in their car, a tent, or a hammock behind the restaurant. Some stay a night, and others have been there for months. The love for climbing remains the same throughout camp, and you'll often spend all day on the walls, and all night playing cards and laughing with fellow adventurers.
Camping remains $2/night per person, and showers cost $1.00 for four minutes. The restaurant offers breakfast, coffee, salads, pasta, and pizza. At night, all the climbers rush in with empty stomachs, and they go to bed eager to do it again tomorrow.

Great place to stop and get some food if your in the gorge! Awesome atmosphere with a lot of chill people. Amazing pizza, would highly recommend if your in the area! They also have swaggy shirts and sick stickers! 🤟

Horrible, rude and disorganized staff! I would not recommend spending your money at this establishment. Could not handle simple order and would not take responsibility for their mistake, even becoming rude and trying to spin it into my own fault. Did not offer any reconciliation for the disservice. Do not, I repeat do not waste your time or money!

Miguel's Pizza is a rock climber's paradise while visiting the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. After a long day of climbing, there is nothing better than spending the evening here. Not only do they have fantastic pizza with many options for toppings to suit everyone's needs/ wants, they also offer wi-fi, clean bathrooms, a gear shop, and a chance to chat with fellow climber's at one of the many picnic tables. They also allow pets, so if you are planning on bringing your furry best friend out for a weekend at the crag, you are more than welcome to stay here. As someone who visits the Gorge often for climbing, I'm glad that my friends and I can always count on finding a great meal, welcoming environment, and quiet place to camp at Miguel's.

Miguel's serves some amazing pizza and great gear! It's a laid back community of climbers. Although it can be busy in the peak season, it is a great place to relax after being in the gorge.
