Toleak Point via Third Beach Trailhead
La Push, Washington

11.98 mi
/ 1634 ft gain
Start off hiking down to the very popular Third Beach, starting from the Third Beach trailhead and following the Pacific NW Trail near La Push, WA. Once down at the beach, push on beyond the sometimes crowded beach and enter one of the most amazing places in WA.
Be careful of tides (check the charts!) and be comfortable scrambling up and down slippery muddy trails (there are handlines of decen...
Backpack the Rockwall Trail
East Kootenay G, British Columbia
68 mi
/ 8530 ft gain
The Rockwall trail is a famous 3-5 day trek in Kootenay National Park.
We started from the North and camped at Helmet Falls our first night, and then continued south and exited out Floe Lake. I would recommend this direction for a backpack, and the opposite direction for a trail run (it's about 50k).
The scenery is amazing, trails are spectacular, and we even ran into (almost quite literally)...
Climb Bugaboo Spire, NE Ridge
East Kootenay G, British Columbia
6 mi
/ 2300 ft gain
The adventure of the Bugaboos starts almost at the highway when you turn off at Brisco. A collection of rough and tumble roads that are only recently signed towards the Bugaboo Provincial Parking Lot are exciting enough... 4WD isn't required, but a car with decent clearance will make the drive much quicker.Once at the parking lot, puzzle over the cars with all sorts of wires and wooden posts le...

Rainy Pass, Washington

/ 4700 ft gain
Starting at Rainy Pass trailhead, you'll proceed to skirt high above Lake Ann on a marvelously maintained trail. Without realizing you're about to arrive at a pass, you'll come to Heather Pass, where you'll need to take a right. Continuing straight is also a popular hike, especially during peak larch season, where a large loop can be made by combining Lake Ann with Rainy Lake.
Continuing on fr...
Talapus Lake Trail
North Bend, Washington
3.43 mi
/ 781 ft gain
The trail up to Talapus Lake is well graded and relatively short, at only about 2.5 miles in length RT. The trail starts off on a wide old road cut and then veers off into the old growth woods in a slowly winding uphill tack. A few mellow switch backs deliver you to the top, where a short stretch of log walking across easy streams brings you to views of Talapus Lake.
