Grab your friends, a boat, and a cooler and spend the day hanging out in the middle of Kaneohe Bay at Kane'ohe Bay Sandbar.

There's no better way to spend a relaxing day in Hawaii than sitting out on the Kaneohe Bay Sandbar, surrounded by great views of the Koolau Range and Oahu coastline.

Located in northeast Oahu, the Kaneohe Sandbar is a fun place to spend your day snorkeling, playing water games, and enjoying food and drinks. Be aware that this area is alcohol free during major summer holidays and holiday weekends.

The best way to access the sandbar is by boat, but unless you have a friend with a boat or possess military base access (you can rent from on-base if you hold a license with the Kaneohe MCB Marina), you'll have to go by paddleboard or kayak. Launch from the Heeia Pier or State Park right off of Kamehameha Highway. The paddle is over 1 mile each way and can take some time, so start early and bring lots of sunscreen - there's no shade out there!

Kane'ohe Bay Sandbar Reviews

Great place for paddling, though we just hung out on the beach. Was a nice beach day

Great place to hang out, the water here is usually very mellow. Would definitely love to go back

Parking is easy, just a bit of a small lot when the beach gets busy. Definitely try jumping off the rock, the water is calmer in the summer. Multi-headed shower is nice for cleaning off the saltwater and grit.

Head out early and plan to stay...one of the most unreal places on Oahu

if you like to surf uncrowded waves, boat over to Pyramid Rock, it can get super fun.
