I've had the opportunity to hike this trail several times. Each time I have been accompanying a group of teen aged young men with little to no experience backpacking or camping. This hike gives you all you need when coming from Michigan. The trail is in great shape, it's possible to start late in the day and camp in a meadow before heading to the lake, or you can do the whole hike to the lake in one day. You get to feel the elevation gain towards the end of the trail with switchbacks, and then you come upon the lake and stand in awe. Once at the lake, there are great options for camping, wading in the stream and hiking around. if the weather is good it's possible to summit the peak behind the lake. Will be there again in June, can't wait
