A beautiful black sand beach in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.

Playa Negra is a beautiful blank sand beach in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. Just off shore there is the remains of an old barge shipwreck that is slowly being reclaimed by nature. The barge is heavily rusted with grass and even a tree growing out if it. The sand is incredibly fine and can be quite hot in the sun. This is a beautiful spot to catch the sunset as the barge makes for some great photographs. Spend the day swimming or relaxing on the beach, and when you're ready to leave, there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance of the beach.

Relax at Playa Negra Reviews

This was one of my favorite beaches in Costa Rica. The sand was incredibly fine and soft to walk through. It was a bit warm though since the sand was so black absorbing the heat from the sunlight. The old barge was really cool to see with the tree growing out of it.
