Mueller State Park is located behind Pikes Peak, offering fantastic views and abundant wildlife along the Brook Pond trail.

This hike begins at the east side of the Visitor's Center parking lot. The Visitor's Center keeps a record of any recent wildlife sightings, so its a good idea to check in the building if your goal is to see some animals. Otherwise, head to the end of the parking lot and take trail #5 down the hill.

There are a few splits along the trail, but just follow the signs for trail #5 and you'll get there in no time. The trail is entirely downhill from the Visitor's Center to the pond, so you'll really feel like you're going fast.

About two tenths of a mile before you reach the pond, the trail splits. You can go left to go to Rock Pond or stay right to go to Brook Pond. The Rock Pond trail will add .46 miles to your hike, but it's gorgeous and has a great spot to eat lunch. Otherwise, continue down the shaded trail to get to Brook Pond.

Hike to Brook Pond Reviews

This is a nice little hike especially if you can catch it during the fall colors. The trail is well marked and there are benches along the way so you can rest on the way back up when you are gaining the elevation back.
