Gordon Falls is one of the hidden jewels of southern New Brunswick. You can hike your way into the canyon up to the falls, swim in the water holes and dive into the fall.
Gordon Falls is one of the best waterfalls in New Brunswick. It is situated 45 minutes out of Moncton, is easily accessible from the road, and is absolutely worth the drive whenever you wish to cool down on a hot summer day. While it's possible to reach the waterfall right out of your car and hang out by the river, we suggest you park a little further down the road and enjoy the hike into the canyon.
The total hike should be around 1k from your car to Gordon Falls and you will have to get into the water and swim to cross at some points. The current will be strong and the rocks slippery, but will be totally feasible with caution. Unfortunately, there might also be broken glass by the river (and broken flip flops), so good water shoes is a must to do the water-hike.
Past Elgin, N.B., take south on River rd. Drive for 2 km, passes Gordon Falls, and park by the side of the road after the bridge. Coordinates are 45.779663, -65.094955. You might see people bathing in the sun on the rocks: that is your cue to where to enter the river.
Make your way down to the river, and take a right on the rocks. You can hop from rock to rock up to the bridge. Water slide into the river with caution to cross under and swim or walk to follow the canyon until you reach the big pool. Go around, or swim across and continue straight to make your way to Gordon Falls. You will most likely be walking on rocks when you reach it, but keep an eye (and ear) out for the falls.
To get back, from the falls, take the side trail into the woods to get back to the main road. Cross on the bridge, and reach your car where you parked it, or hang out on the flat rocks in the river for a little while.
