There are a lot of paths to follow that all loop back to the parking lot. My children came along. They love the lake hikes that we go on. It was nice to hear the roar of the lake as we came in to the shore from the stairway. We did need a little more adventure than the marked pathway so we hoped of and trekked a bit off the path. It is definitely a beginners fun easy hike. With beautiful sights.

I was surprised that once we paid parking, we got out the car and froze our butts off to see no marked trails...but to be right at the frozen waterfall. (Literally the walk to the "trail" as less than 1 minute) we crossed barriers and police lines to get to the base of the frozen fall. Once at the bottom, very beautiful sight, however... No excitement other than the icebergs on my eyelashes, eyebrows, and crowds of people putting their children on thin ice for pictures. Be careful!

Went here by fluke when traveling home from Minnesota to Chicago. Dead of winter -6° outside. Best experience ever, winter needs to be added to this. As cold as it was, beautifully marked trails, a rushing (yet frozen) waterfall, streaming rivers, and a community of other hikers, snowshoers, & sightseers that was well worth the layers of clothing and gear I had to wear.

We took a breathtaking hike on the areas left traveled. It is definitely not for beginners once you're off the trails. Bring a pair of water shoes or even just a change of shoes. The terrain makes for a great hike. We took many paths we shouldn't have, but it was well worth the time.

The scenery is beautiful. However the upkeep isn't the best. I brought my children and although they had a blast, it was difficult to navigate the trail, or stairway, everything is covered in and and including the fences... Guess that's a dune for you! Otherwise, beautiful fall sunset! We'd come again.
