Arriving one week prior to the rest of Acadia National Park opening, and a full month before tourism in Bar Harbor picks up turned out to be a great time for this hike. I had blue skies and only a few other hikers on the trail. The trail is marked with blue blazes to keep you from getting lost, but I recommend having your phone with GPS on to assist navigation. Traction is excellent and mud is nearly non existent with the majority of this trail being on granite. There are some short sections that could be ankle rollers if you’re not careful or hiking in the dark. There are several spots that would make first rate spots to watch the sun rise.
