Hiking To Vernal Falls

After about 0.8 miles/1.3 kms you will come across an excellent view of Vernal Fall from the footbridge. Here you can stop and refill water bottles and use the public bathrooms. Just beyond the footbridge is where the Mist Trail and John Muir Trail diverge. Take Mist Trail to the left to stay on track to Vernal Fall. John Muir will take you to Nevada Fall, bypassing Vernal Fall.

Follow the 600 plus steep and sometimes slippery granite steps all the way up and you'll find yourself at the top! Don't let this put you off though, there were people young and old on the trail. You can keep hiking to Nevada Falls from here if your legs can handle it.

Remember parts of this trail can be closed in Winter so always check online prior to completing any hikes to avoid disappointment,

Tip: Hire a bicycle inside the park! It's $34 for the entire day from Curry Village and exploring the Valley Floor by bicycle is one of the best ways to see the park! You can easily cycle to various trail heads within the park rather than doing the extra walking or waiting in long lines for the free shuttle service.
