Visit the Ridges, a State Natural Area and a National Natural Landmark, located in Door County.

The Ridges Sanctuary is a 1,600 pristine natural area located in Bailey's Harbor. It is open to the public year-round from dawn to dusk and features five miles of trails and bridges. There is a $5 entrance fee for anyone over the age of 18 unless you are a member.

There is a parking lot in front of the facility but it was full when we visited so we parked on Highway 57 right next to the sanctuary. After paying fees inside the facility, exit the building and make a right towards the trails.  A new boardwalk was very recently installed to connect the facility to the ridges.  Along the boardwalk, you will quickly escape into the forest.  After a short walk, you will arrive at an intersecting boardwalk where you will see two range lights, one in each direction.  The trails are clearly labeled so it's possible to hike the Ridges without a map.  Experience the swales, bridges, and observation decks.
