Large pristine lake with northern cascade backdrop
No matter which direction you come from the road is going to be filled with gnarly potholes, but once you get there it's totally worth it! Walupt lake is situated in the goat rocks wilderness and acts as a sweet little 'base camp' for a long weekend full of awesome hikes. There's an official campsite right on the lake, and lots of access to forest land on your way in. Whatever works best for you, just make sure to clean up after yourselves! The lake is chilly and beautiful, and the landscape lends itself to some amazing sunsets. Lace those boots up early and hit the trail for Nannie ridge, or send it for a full loop around the lake and a few miles on the pacific crest trail. You can't go wrong with planning a few days in this area, there is an abundance of unbelievable hikes within 10-15 miles of the campground.
