Jack O Lantern Branch Trail is a loop trail that takes you by a river located near Hardy, Virginia.
Jack O Lantern Branch Trail is located at the Booker T. Washington National Monument. As an enslaved child, Washington is said to have wandered these woods to get away from the plantation and procure food like fish for his mother to cook. The trail takes around 45 minutes to walk at an easy pace, and features a wide path that allows for passing. Visit in the spring and summer to enjoy wildflowers and fall to see changing leaves. The stream is relaxing to walk by and the plaques near the historic homestead provide interesting information on the history of the area.
