Description

Added by Clark Ragsdale

Anyone who has ever driven along the east bench of Salt Lake City between Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons has seen the Hound's tooth, but just may not know that the protruding rock has a name. Walk along the summit of the mini-peak that few have been on, or even near.

Three miles up from the Ferguson Canyon trailhead is a meadow beneath Storm Mountain. Ascend to the ridge line south of that point to be at approximately 9,010 feet. Head West for almost exactly one mile until you are at the foot of the Northern tip of the Hound's Tooth. Climb up to the summit, walk the entire length of the Hound's Tooth enjoying the scenery and the view, and descend the Southwestern side. Once down, if you head directly West you can descend whichever way suits you best off the hill and pop out into a neighborhood at which point you can walk back to your car which will probably be about 0.5 miles away.
