This quick 0.5 mile trail has a 100 foot climb and ends at the world famous Mesa Arch. Make sure to get there around 4-4:30 am if you want a good spot. Make no mistake, the pictures you have seen look peaceful, but there will be at least 30-50 other photographers out there with you fighting for the best spot.

Use your widest angle, and wait for the sun to come up. For about an hour, the light will hit the bottom of the arch and light it up with an orange glow. This is also a great place to shoot the Milky Way before the sun comes up.

To get to the trailhead from the Island in the Sky Visitor Center, drive south for 6.3 miles and turn left into the parking area for Mesa Arch. If you reach the intersection with Upheaval Dome Road, you have gone too far.
