Camp at Porcupine Rim Campground
Moab, Utah
Description
Added by Josiah Roe
Amazing views of Castle Valley and relative solitude mere minutes from Moab with easy access to incredible mountain biking and ATV trails.
Porcupine Rim Campground, just inside the Manti-La Sal National Forest, is a fantastic dispersed campsite (with bathrooms) that overlooks the hills and mesas of Castle Valley some 2000' feet below. Most are familiar with the area due to the famous Porcupine Pine Rim mountain biking trail, but the campground itself is one of the most breathtaking in the US.
To get there take the dirt Sand Flats Road / Forest Road 0067 through the Sand Flats Recreation Area roughly 15 miles from downtown Moab. Once you cross the cattle guard and into the National Forest, hang an immediate left. You will wind through the trees past several campsites at which point the road will rise up to the cliff edge. You do not necessarily need a 4WD vehicle to make it to the campsites along the edge but a high clearance vehicle is beneficial.
Note: after a rain the road can be impassible. There are no water sources. Practice the principles of Leave No Trace.

Camp at Porcupine Rim Campground Reviews
The drive is a long 15 miles from Moab to the campground, some places can be a little rough, but if you take your time you should be fine. Once you get to the campground you will not be disappointed. The sites at then end of the campground are right on the edge of the cliff and are stunning! Definitely would camp here again!
