From the start of Henry's Fork Trailhead (9,430 ft.) to the first conjuncture at Elkhorn Stream, you should expect to find a mild incline, beautiful views of the Uinta mountains, and yourself. Constantly out of breath.

After crossing a log bridge over Elkorn Stream, it's only a couple miles to Dollar Lake, the main camp spot.

Whether you wish to summit in a day, two, or three matters not. The trail continues straight past Dollar Lake through Gunsight Pass (11,888 ft.) and comes to a fork. You can choose to either take the popular, scenic, and long way through the meadows and up a ridge, or hang right and enjoy climbing through a deathtrap of nothing but rocks. Choose the latter and you will save an hour or two on your journey (but miss the sheep).

Once you find yourself on Anderson Pass, you will soon begin the real climb over what seems to be millions of rocks in one big pile. It's about an hour of rock-hopping, and a couple false peaks until you're finally there, at 13,528 ft. The top of Utah!
