Added by Taylor Howard
Located only 12 minutes outside downtown Charleston, enjoy an exciting stand up paddle board or kayaking adventure! Paddle your way though Shem Creek and the Charleston Harbor while taking in the beautiful scenery and wildlife such as dolphins, turtles, and sea birds.
Want something different than the beach but still want to enjoy the water? Nature Adventures Outfitters stand up paddle boarding offers a great way to do so! Start out your adventure by renting either a stand up paddle board or kayak at the Nature Adventures Outfitters office or call ahead for reservations. Kayaks are available in both single and tandem options. Boards and Kayaks can both be rented for multiple hour spans giving you plenty of time to enjoy the adventure! Rentals also include instruction, map, paddle, and a life jacket. Once you have obtained your board or kayak, set off down Shem Creek where you can explore the creek's tributaries and more wildlife. Along the creek you can see shrimping and fishing boats that deliver their fresh catch to the local seafood markets and restaurants. As you are paddling along, often you will be visited by the dolphins and other sea life that swim through the creek! If you are feeling more adventurous you can make your way out into the Charleston Harbor for a more open and exerting paddle. The entire experience is both refreshing and scenic and a personal favorite adventure in the Charleston area! The creek and Harbor are mostly free range and up you as to where you want to explore, however their are some areas farther into the harbor that are off limits due to current pulls. Nature Adventures Outfitters also has a Kayak & Canoe Blackwater Location
