Batteries to Bluffs Trail offers up great San Francisco bay views including the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Batteries to Bluffs Trail in the Presidio is a true gem of San Francisco. It has everything you could want in a hike: a sea-side path along the ocean, relatively easy parking, gorgeous views of the Golden Gate Bridge, and a secluded beach that's perfect for picnics, sunbathing, and enjoying the beauty of the Bay.

While the steps leading up and down the bluffs make this hike moderately more difficult than nearby trails, the payoff is well worth it. You will earn iconic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and scenery you won't believe is within city limits. Put this one on your short-list for when friends and relatives come into town and want to do something active!

Dogs are not permitted on this trail.

Batteries to Bluffs Trail Reviews

On a warm clear day this is a really beautiful experience and a good hike.

Although parking is tough just on the side of the road this gorgeous view is absolutely worth it!! There are 3-4 trails to decide from so the one we took ended up being shorter than expected there is a lot of beauty to enjoy! Definitely worth the gorgeous ocean view!

Probably the best coastal views. Lots of steps up and down.

Sorry for the generic title. This really was a great hike with wonderful views. Though beware of the times you go to or look in the direction of Baker beach. You’ll catch an eye full of old white naked butts and nuts. Other than that, the views if the bridge are sensational.

Not much of a hike, really just some steep stairs and a little bit of climbing over some rocks if you want to travel further down the beach towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Overall, fantastic views and easily accessible, although coming back may be a bit more tiring. You have to go the way you came to get back to the road unless you want to climb straight up (I did this, and while it was an adventure, it was not as easy as the actual trail).

One of my favorite things about this trail is the bench isolating you from the rest of the trail. Sit down and take in the view that consists of the Golden Gate Bridge and the sunset!
