Hiking Upper and Double Falls on Tumalo Creek Trailhead/North Fork Trail

Double and Upper Falls are both gorgeous and hidden gems. Given the fact that most people merely drive and park at the Tumalo Falls parking lot and admire Tumalo Falls without ever realizing or knowing that more waterfalls await them on the trail.

Starting from the Tumalo Falls parking lot; which is 5,000 ft. elevation. The trailhead begins on the south side of Tumalo Creek next to the bathrooms. The beginning of the hike is where you will experience the brunt of the elevation gain during the hike. As it is a quick rise (0.2 miles) to the railed viewpoint platform beside Tumalo Falls. Follow the North Fork Trail where after 0.8 miles and 200-300 foot elevation gain you arrive at Double Falls (pictured). Continue on the trail after you have had time to enjoy Double Falls and after 0.9 miles and another 200-300 foot elevation gain you will arrive at Upper Falls (5,600ft.). This is a good turnaround point. Trails would eventually take you back to the Tumalo Falls parking lot where you started. So if you would like to take the loop and see more waterfalls you can. However, I feel compelled to caution you that the loop utilizes at least a couple other trails to loop its way back. So if you desire to take the loop back, I would recommend either a map or a hiking guide. I however, was short on time and could only make the hike up to Upper Falls and back to the parking lot at Tumalo Falls. Round trip takes about 2-3 hours if you are taking your time.
