About 20 minutes from Bend, this short, but steep hike, is a great workout with the added payoff of stunning mountain views at the summit.

A lot of people visit this area to BC ski when the ground is covered in snow, but it's a great hike, with amazing views of Bachelor, the Sisters and Broken Top, after the snow has melted and before it arrives again. If you time it right, a spectacular view of the sunset can be had at the summit, but you'll definitely want a light source to avoid tripping on rocks and roots along the trail on the way down.

Volcanic, red cinder rock covers the summit and part of the landscape shows evidence of a wildfire. As you make the climb, it's a good idea to look back occasionally to catch glimpses of Bachelor.

Park in the Dutchman Flat Sno-park lot (parking pass required) and the trailhead is directly across from the bathroom building.
