Camping in Linville Gorge

One of the easier trails in Linville Gorge with access to the Linville River. There is easy parking along FR 210 which originates from Gingercake Acres Road / SR 1265. Trail is labeled. Hike starts out relatively flat with easy terrain before taking a sharp hairpin right turn after about 0.5 miles and then is an easy single track descent to the Linville River (almost impossible to get lost!). You will encounter beautiful trees and flowers while crossing a few clear streams and rocks. Wildlife is not abundant but you may run into the occasional deer. There are many camping sites founds along the way to the river, each with its own fire pit. At the end of the 1.75 miles, you will encounter the beautiful Linville River. There was a bridge to cross to the west bank of the river; however, this is currently under repair. Fortunately, there is a huge flat rock in the middle of the river that is easily accessible where you can have breakfast and enjoy the sunrise and take in the views. Rewarding short hike.
