Dog FriendlyFamily FriendlyEasy hikeDay Hike or OvernightBeautiful views of the Blue Ridge Parkway
Leaving from Boone, North Carolina, drive towards Blowing Rock and you will turn right off the of highway and onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. Drive along this road for 16.8 miles and the parking lot for the Beacon Heights Trailhead will be on your left just after a turn off on your right.
The drive is very scenic anytime of the year but the fall is the best time to drive it as the trees are all changing colors. The hike itself is very easy and short. The trail forks towards the end; to the left is a rock face in which you can sit on and enjoy the view and to the the right, you can also sit on a rock face for a different view. Make sure to check each of them out!
You can camp out there on the rock face or back in the tree line as it's a perfect spot to catch a sunrise!
