Camp at Cherry Creek Campground at Hebgen Lake
West Yellowstone, Montana
Description
Added by Gabe Priestley
This is a gorgeous free and secluded campsite right on Hebgen Lake where you can hike the shore or put in a small boat and cruise around the various waterfowl. Watch the sun rise over the lake or watch thick fog roll over the top of the water.
In early November we drove from Big Sky to this free campsite located on the southern part of the lake. The road is dirt but mellow. We saw no other campers the entire 2 days we were there. We got out on our inflatable kayak the first day and paddled out on the glassy water near some enormous flocks of ducks. We came back in and hiked around the little bay out to a sandy beach and watched the sun set. That night we had a fire and cooked. In the morning we went on a sunrise kayak and watched as a giant thick sheet of clouds rolled over the surface of the lake, causing poor visibility out on the water.
