This hike is an incredible way for adventure seekers to experience natural waterslides at Seven Wells Waterfall, the unique wildlife hidden in the rainforest, and a intense climb to the top of Langkawi's second highest peak.

Once you park at the parking lot at the base of the famous Seven Wells Waterfall (parking fee 3 ringgit) continue up the stairs on the right or the service road. The first stop on the left is an overlook of the gushing waterfall. Continue up the steps to the top of the falls where you will see the seven pools from which Seven Wells gets it name. You can slide down the slick waterfalls that make natural waterslides for kids and those that are kids at heart. There is a bridge (pictured) that you can take in the view of Burau Bay and Pantai Kok. Restrooms are available at the top.

After taking a dip in the waterfalls, cross the stream to the left side of the wells and continue up the trail into the dense rainforest. BEWARE: There are leeches all along the trail in the small pools and marshy spots. It is gross but nothing to worry about! use insecticides or tobacco to avoid them.

The trail begins pretty easy but eventually turns into trekking directly up a mountain. Ropes are available to climb the steep and slippery parts. Once you climb past the rock wall continue climbing until the shrubbery switches from big trees to smaller bushes. There will be a sign at the top peak (pictured) and millions of dragonflies and butterflies surrounding you.

CONGRATULATIONS you have made it to Gunung Matchincang, the second highest peak on Langkawi!

The total trip up take about 3 hours for an average hiker and the trip down about 2 hours.

Best time to trek: dry season: November to March. The views will be better with less cloud coverage. The pictures are from July during monsoon season so it was cloudy.
