A 15 minute hike that gives the best views over Lake Tahoe and the West Shore.

This short hike delivers stunning views over Lake Tahoe, and it's perfect for sunrise, moonrise, sunset or even just in the middle of the day. Parking is limited on the side of the road (especially in the busier summer months), but it's a short walk from the residential area of Tahoe Pines so you can find parking spaces there.

Depending on fitness, this hike can take 10 - 20 minutes up, and much shorter on the way back. During winter, the hike is still accessible , though unmarked. And if it snowed recently - bring snowshoes! Otherwise it's likely there will be boot marks to walk easily in.

In summer, the trail is marked, but if you're walking in winter it's still easy to find. Park in the pull-out on the western side of the road, and walk west from here - make sure you're on the northern side of the creek though. In a few minutes you'll reach powerlines - here, head north, up toward the back side of the rock. Follow your nose and there will be a trail to lead you to the top, where you'll have awesome views of the majestic Lake Tahoe and the Twin Peaks behind. Enjoy!
