6 Gift Ideas to Get Your Morning Stoke On in the Backcountry

Get up and get outside

By: Kristi Teplitz + Save to a List

We all have our favorite morning (and/or afternoon) caffeine rituals and products, but sometimes they don't transfer well to the backcountry. Carrying out coffee grounds and soggy tea bags is doable, but the inevitable ziplock baggie tear happens, and then we're left with messes we don't want to deal with.

Here are 6 backcountry-friendly products that don't sacrifice flavor for portability.

Stoked Roasters Instant Coffee

Stoked Coffee Roasters was started by ultra-runner Jax Mariash. Stoked feels that good coffee should never be scarified for adventure. Their lightweight, Instant Coffee packets are 100% Certified Organic, and come in medium or dark roast.

Cusa Tea

Looking for instant tea that actually tastes good? Same. I am a picky tea drinker, and similar to bad instant coffee, bad instant tea is a taste you don't want. Dedicated to retaining the flavor of good tea, Cusa Tea uses organic, premium tea leaves and is cold steeped to retain the tea's original flavor and character. Go for a sampler pack and try all of the flavors!

Kuju Coffee

Prefer pour over to instant coffee? Try Kuju's ethically-sourced coffee grounds. They're sealed inside a "Steady-Safe" pour over filter, so all you have to do is provide a sturdy spot for your mug to sit, add the filter, and pour water.

Pique Tea Crystals

Tea lovers know when they're drinking a good cup of tea. Pique cold brews organic, freshly harvested tea leaves at low temperatures, and their process gently extracts antioxidants and phytonutrients, so you're left with tea with high concentrations of antioxidants. Whether you want to heal your gut in the backcountry, or calm your nervous system, Pique tea crystal packets are easy to pack and worth carrying the little weight they are.

BUBS Naturals

Collagen protein remains a hot topic in the fitness and adventure world. Started in memory of a Navy Seal and work hard, play hard guru Glen “BUB” Doherty, BUBS Naturals is committed to continuing to make clean products and build a culture around saving lives and having an impact on our adventures. From healthier hair and nails to less painful joints post-adventure and faster recovery, more and more athletes are supplementing with collagen protein in their daily lives. Their single-serving collagen protein packs are lightweight and much bigger than the size of your index finger, making them a great backcountry companion. Check out my full review of all of Bubs products here.

Luce Farms CBD Hemp Extract

Vermont-based Luce Farm's Hemp Extract contains two ingredients: Hemp Extract grown from certified organic hemp plants and organic MCT Oil. Add drops to your morning coffee or evening tea to help kickstart your body's recovery so you're ready to shred whatever adventure the day brings your way.
